Sean Borja Farm Education Manager Sean brings his teaching experience to head up our Education Programme, arranging, planning, and delivering engaging visits for schools and other groups, alongside his team of education volunteers.
In addition, Sean curates and manages our Workshop Programme of skills-based experiences, and coordinates Visits & Tours of Kelmarna as well as Venue Hire & Photo/Film Location arrangements, to help our community connect with and benefit from our farm in many different ways. |
Oliver Brockie Soil Factory Coordinator Oliver is our chief composter, managing Soil Factory, our community composting social enterprise.
In this role he supports local businesses and residents to join our circular local food loop, reclaiming organic resources and creating living compost to support our food production. |
Ruth Gill Volunteer Coordinator & Market Gardener Ruth is responsible for welcoming volunteers to our team, and leads our Open Garden Volunteering sessions at Kelmarna, supporting our community to get their hands dirty, contribute to our work, and learn regenerative gardening skills.
She also works in the market garden, contributing to the growing of produce for our CSA scheme. |

Nick Morrison Chairperson & Trustee Nick Morrison is the founder of the sustainability consultancy, Go Well Consulting, who advise businesses on how to become circular and regenerative.
Nick's vision is for every New Zealand community to have a local regenerative organic farm and composting hub to support connected communities, restored public health, and a food system that operates in harmony with the real world. Nick is the current Chair of Trustees. |
Derek Broadmore Trustee Derek Broadmore is a lawyer, farmer, and organics advocate. Derek established one of the first specialist employment law firms in New Zealand. He has had a long interest in environmental issues and was an early Director of the Environmental Defence Society. In 1985 Derek and his wife Ros purchased a farm in the Wairarapa that they managed organically from the outset, and it was certified organic in the 1990s.
Derek has been on the Councils of both BioGro and the organic umbrella group Organics Aotearoa NZ, served as Chair for each of those organisations, as well as represented the organic sector at the Royal Commission on Genetic Modification. Upon moving to Auckland, Derek helped establish the Auckland Organic Business Collective. Currently he works as a consultant within the wider organic sector. |
Isabel Pasch Trustee Isabel Pasch is founder and owner of Bread & Butter, a local small chain of bakeries and cafes in Auckland that focus on traditional slow sourdough fermentation, using organic ingredients. She is also a microbiologist and science writer.
Isabel is passionate about good, nourishing bread and has spent the past eight years sharing that with her customers. When she’s not baking bread, she’s busy promoting the benefits of local food, community, and sustainability, including through her blog, Bread Politics. |
Tracy Berno Trustee Tracy Berno is Associate Dean Postgraduate and Professor at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in Auckland, New Zealand. Her teaching and research interests include the relationship between agriculture, tourism and cuisine, sustainable food systems, and food politics.
She has researched and published widely on agriculture, food systems, culture, cuisine, and tourism development in the South Pacific and Asia, and has co-authored three international award-winning books in this area. Tracy is the founder and Project Manager of Pacific Food Lab-Aotearoa and is a member of several governance boards, all related to food and food systems. |
Maryjane Bell Treasurer & Trustee Maryjane Bell is the owner of a local family-run New Zealand furniture manufacturing company, and brings a wealth of experience gained through involvement in the day-to-day running of a small business, which includes planning, production, and managing business accounts.
Maryjane became involved with Kelmarna as she enjoys being part of a community-based team and appreciates the beauty and tranquility that Kelmarna Gardens brings to her neighbourhood. Maryjane has held the position of Treasurer since 2016. |
Chris Morrison Trustee Chris Morrison has comprehensive experience across the ethical business sector in NZ.
He was the Co-founder of Phoenix Organics. He is currently is the Co-founder of Karma Drinks and All Good Bananas. He's also held Chair positions for the Sustainable Business Network and Bio-Gro, and is currently the Chair of Organics Aotearoa NZ, and Director at Kokako. He's a passionate advocate for regenerative organic farming and all things sustainable. |
