Kelmarna

city farm and organic community garden

Animals

Come and visit the animals and get to know them. Kelmarna is home to live stock including cows, sheep, a horse (Jafa) and chickens.

Jafa The Horse
(Just Another Famous Aucklander)

Jafa is a Welsh Timor pony, these  ponies were bread for their ability to live on a sniff of an oily rag and their strength to carry heavy loads in the mines of Timor. He will turn 11 in November 2016.

Jafa has had a very busy life since his arrival at Kelemana. He has featured in newspaper articles and on prime time TV, including a cameo on the Bachelor Season one on TV3. He has taken this new-found fame in his stride, not letting it get in the way of his down to earth nature in the city farm he calls home. Jafa gets many visitors each day, some of whom have their own names for him. Names like Spike and Oi.
